[Well, Michael has finally drifted off to sleep and after their conversation Thomas feels almost as drained as his younger brother looks right now. Still, there is too much food for thought to turn right in and sleep, and well, he should probably talk to Chris before he makes any decisions on how to deal with Vector himself.

[Definitely awake--November has so far not been a month very conducive to sleeping--and more than willing to drop what he's working on when he sees who it is that's texting him late at night. After all, that usually wasn't a good sign, was it?]

That is not good, what on earth was his brother thinking. Even if they had their decks, they know hardly anything about Vector's or how he plays, and they certainly don't know what skills he might have for other forms of dueling.
If Michael's really serious about it, though, there's not a lot they can do to stop him...and it might be better to challenge Vector here where he shouldn't be able to do much damage if any of them challenge him at all.

[Michael is serious about it even though he isn't entirely sure what kind of duel he's actually challenged and figuring that out before he actually goes to meet Vector is one of the stipulations that Thomas has set down for this - and hopefully Michael has understood that that's not negotiable. Neither is the part where he's not going alone.]

As for that second question... well, the short answer would maybe probably be 'yes', because seeing Michael so upset, being unable to do anything to change that, having to nudge him along into seeking physical comfort when Michael is the most tactile out of them and usually unafraid and unashamed of going to Thomas (likely because he knows he'll always comply no matter how reluctant he pretends to be) and the implications of that have left him drained and tired and irritated and restless all at once instead. He's not really craving reassurance (or maybe he is, just a little), but it would be nice to be able to actually talk face to face rather than text, to be able to figure out a way how to deal with Vector that will make stick just how bad an idea it is to mess with their family, to just talk in generally maybe.
It's a multitude of reasons that make him hesitate to admit it outright though - it's not that he doesn't trust Chris, or that he fears that they might end up again where they've been for the better part of two years until a few months ago, but the idea that he can seek out Chris, that he can go to him for support, that he could probably go up to him and hug him and it wouldn't be strange at all (except that he still has his pride, and it's not like he is the one that's been hurt, so what the hell does he need reassurance for) is still a bit new, and though he knows that Chris won't complain about having to make the trip, there is maybe a tiny bit of reluctance to actually ask it of him.
The actual reply he sends is sort of a compromise, he supposes, and maybe hopefully Chris will be able read out of it what he really wants as oppose to what he's saying.]
